Jon Lantzy: Director of Operations, Fusion Lacrosse
Coach Lantzy has just left a five year stint as an assistant coach at Duke University. A native of Buffalo, N.Y., Jon attended Michigan State University and was a four-year starter for the Spartans in lacrosse. A 1991 graduate of MSU, Lantzy closed his career ranking 14th on the Spartan all-time scoring list and was a four-time all-league choice. Jon helped Michigan State to a pair of national tournament berths in 1989 and 1991 and was honored as one of 25 players named to the All-Time Spartan varsity lacrosse team Jon went on to play professional lacrosse in the Major Indoor Lacrosse League for the Detroit Turbos and the Buffalo Bandits. He played with the Turbos during the 1991-92 and 1993-94 seasons and helped the Bandits to an undefeated season and the world championship in 1992-93. Upon completion of his playing career, Lantzy pursued a coaching career at Canisius College were he served as an assistant coach for five seasons. Jon then went on to become the Head Coach at St. Andrews College in Laurinburg, N.C., from 1998-01. While at St. Andrews, he coached three USILA All-America selections and 17 All-Deep South Conference picks. Coach Lantzy assisted in all aspects of the Duke University lacrosse program with direct responsibilities working with the defensive unit, midfielders, face-off personnel and goalies. Coaching Lantzy helped guide the Blue Devils to a #2 national ranking and a berth in the 2005 NCAA chamionship game falling to Johns Hopkins 9-8. In 2002 the Blue Devil’s captured their third ACC championship and advanced to the quarterfinals of the NCAA Championship Tournament. He is also the author of “Building a championship Goaltender” a DVD produced by Championship Productions. While at Duke Lantzy was the co-director of the Duke Evening Lacrosse Camp and helped direct the Duke Lacrosse Overnight Camp and the Duke Tournament of Champions Team Camp. Coach Lantzy also currently serves as the head coach of the Triangle Select Lacrosse (TSL) club. TSL is a regional high school all-star team that competes at various national showcase tournaments during the fall and summer months. He also served as the TALL instructional director for the fall of 2004. Lantzy, 36, is married to the former Suzanne Row of Marion, Ohio, and the couple has one daughter, four year old Katherine.
Chip Mayer: President, Rival Lacrosse
Chip hails from the prestigious lacrosse powerhouse of Ward Melville High School on Long Island, where he graduated from in 1986 after earning High School All-American honors. He moved on to play at the University of North Carolina, where he graduated in 1990 after being named to the All-American and All-ACC teams. He then served as an assistant coach at UNC from 1990-1994, helping guide the Tar Heels to the 1991 NCAA Men's Div. I National Championship. In 1994 he Co- founded the Great Atlantic Lacrosse Company in Chapel Hill,NC helping it to become the largest mail order lacrosse supplier in the US. From 1996-1998 Chip was the head coach at Chapel Hill High School where he coached the Tigers to North Carolina public school state championship in 1997. In 1998 he accepted a job as the Southeastern Sales Representative for Brine Inc. He now manages the entire Southeast in his current position for Warrior Lacrosse. Chip was one of the founding fathers of the Triangle Area Lacrosse League (TALL) in 1998, and served as the executive director for two years. He is Co-founder and director of Rival Lacrosse Inc. which has established Youth programs in Durham and Chapel Hill. He remains very active as a player for the Great Atlantic Lacrosse Club (1991-present), where he is a starting attackman/midfielder. He married Kerry Ellen Byrne in 1999, and they have two girls: Abigail (5) and Elisabeth (3). The Mayer family lives in Durham
Chad Watson: President, Riptide Lacrosse
Chad Watson is currently the President of the Great Atlantic Lacrosse Company . He grew up outside of Philadelphia, PA where he attended the Perkiomen School and played for his father Reid. Chad lead his High School team to the PA North Eastern State Championship as midfielder and holds the distinction of scoring at least one goal in 52 consecutive games over a three-year period. He was a three-year All-league and two-year All-State selection. In 1997 Chad was inducted into Perkiomen’s Athletic Ring of Honor along with his father. Chad attended the University of North Carolina and was a member of the 1986 National Championship team and the 1989 ACC Championship squad. After graduating in 1989, Chad went to work with Sports Endeavors Inc. in Durham. After serving in many roles at SEI, in 1994 Chad went on to cement his own legacy in the Sporting goods industry as Founder and President of the Great Atlantic Lacrosse Company . He served on the NC-Chapter of US Lacrosse from 1997 - 2001. Chad currently serves on the US Lacrosse Industry council, and is an advisory Board Member for Major League Lacrosse. In his spare time Chad is the Director of Riptide Lacrosse Camps. He is married to Kathryn and has three children Tanner, McCabe and Wade
